What it is
The Schedule step of an email campaign sets when the approved email goes out. There is no send-now button: every email campaign is scheduled.
A new schedule always starts Held. Held means nothing is sent. It goes out only after an Owner binds it to an approved delivery policy, and even then each recipient is checked again just before their email is sent.
How to use it
- Approve the content, sender and audience in Recipients and approval first.
- Open Schedule. Under Recipient preview, use Preview as to read the email as any of the first 50 approved recipients.
- Choose the Sending location, Date and Time.
- Select Schedule as held and confirm. The schedule shows Held and nothing is sent.
- Set the location switcher in the sidebar to the schedule's location.
- Under Delivery policy, choose an approved email policy and select Bind delivery policy. Confirm Enable governed email delivery?
- The badge changes to Governed delivery and the card reads "Queued with approved delivery policy".
- While it waits, use Pause and Resume, Change send time or Cancel schedule.
What the data means
The time uses the sending location's time zone, or the business profile's when the location has none. A send time must be between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM there, at least 15 minutes and at most 90 days ahead, in 5-minute steps. The business postal address must be set in Settings → Business profile, because every campaign email shows it.
Suppressed since approval counts people removed when you scheduled: in Trash, email opt-out recorded, restriction needs review, address changed since approval, or bought since approval.
Saving a new version of the draft, or withdrawing the approval, cancels the schedule. It then appears under Earlier schedules with the reason, for example "Cancelled automatically: a new draft version was saved".
Pause stops delivery and keeps recipients held; Resume continues and checks everyone again. Change send time is refused once sending has started. Cancel schedule releases recipients not yet sent; emails already sent stay sent.
Possible issues and fixes
I can't pick the time I want
Symptom: The time is refused, for example 9 PM or in 5 minutes.
Why: Campaign email is only scheduled between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM in the location's time zone, at least 15 minutes ahead and within 90 days.
Fix: Choose a time inside that window.
How to check: Schedule as held works and the schedule shows Held with your time.
The schedule disappeared
Symptom: The schedule you made is gone.
Why: A new version of the draft was saved, or the approval was withdrawn. Either cancels the schedule.
Fix: Approve the current version again, then schedule it again.
How to check: Earlier schedules lists the old one with the reason, and the new one shows Held.
Scheduling asks for the postal address
Symptom: "Add the business postal address in Settings → Business profile first. Every campaign email shows it."
Why: Every campaign email must show your business postal address in its footer.
Fix: Select Open business profile, add the address and save. Then schedule again.
How to check: Schedule as held works.
